6/14/1880, William J Whitehead age 36, a farmer born in AL, his parents born in GA; with wife Julia A age 33, born in LA, father born in MO, mother born in LA; with daughters Nevada E age 13, Selia E age 12, Ella F age 10, Ada L age 7, Carrie M age 5 and son Oscar J age 1; live in Tarrant Co., TX. 5/6/1910, They live in Tarrant Co., TX. Will. J. Whitehead age 65, wife Julia age 62; married 40 years, Julia has had 10 children, 7 surviving. Son Oscar 31 a farm laborer, daughter Willie 23, son Clyde 16 a farm laborer. (S) U.S. 1910 Census.

8/3/1915, Julia applied for a Confederate widow’s pension. She states that she owns no property, and that she turned 68 the previous January. She has lived in TX about 40 years. She has lived at 1301 Clinton Ave. N. Ft Worth about 33 years. (S) Pension Appl.

1/12/1920, Julia A Whitehead a widow age 72, with daughter Millie J age 24, granddaughter Mamie E Reed age 28, and her husband Paul J Reed age 43 live at 1505 Lee Ave., Ft. Worth, where they rent their home. (S) U.S. 1920 Census.

12/17/1933, Obituary: “Resident of Tarrant 55 Years Succumbs. Mrs. Julia Whitehead, 87, a resident of Tarrant County 55 years, died yesterday afternoon after a two weeks illness. She lived at 3516 St. Louis Ave. Survivors are three sons, Arthur Whitehead, Weatherford; E. J. Whitehead, Fort Worth; and Clyde Whitehead, Fort Worth; and four daughters, Mrs. N. E. Duvall, Webb; Mrs. A. L. Wood, Mrs. C. W. Duke and Mrs. Willie Stringer, all of Fort Worth. Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at the residence, Rev. Joe Scheumack officiating. Burial will be in Rehobeth Cemetery, 10 miles south of Arlington. The Moore Funeral Home of Arlington is in charge of arrangements.” (S) Fort Worth Star Telegram, Sun., P12.
