11/12/1216, Reginald de Vautort, 11th ‘noble’ signer of King Henry’s re-granting of the Magna Carta. (S) Hist. Essay on the Magna Charta of King John, Thomson, 1829, P105. [Reginald had to be connected at court for his daughter to become a mistress of Richard of Cornwall (23640580), s/o King John.]

1/18/1219, Order to the sheriff of Devon that since Reginald de Vautorte has mainperned before the king’s council for the scutage … he is to cause him to have peace. (S) FRsHIII.

By 1220, Reginald married to Joan. [Joan of full age at 14.]

Henry, earl of Warwick, for himself and Phillippa, his wife, and Reginald de Vautorte, for himself and Joan, his wife, and Alice, sister of Phillippa and Joan, have performed homage for the lands in his bailiwick formerly of Thomas Basset, whose heirs are Phillippa, Joan and Alice. 9/5/1225, Devon. The king has granted Reginald de Vautorte respite from the 600m which are exacted from him by reason of the dispute that has arisen between Reginald and the bishop of Winchester. (S) FRsHIII.

12/30/1225, Reginald paid 100s towards his debts. (S) FRsHIII.

1/20/1227, Reginald de Vautorte has made fine with the king by £100, so that he and his heirs are quit from the demand of 600m by which Roger de Vautorte [Reginald’s father] made fine with King John, the king’s father, for having that part of the lands that remained to Henry de Novant from the partition made between Henry and William de Braose, which Henry granted to Roger and his heirs. 4/30/1245, Reginald de Vautorte has made fine with the king by 600m for having seisin of the manors of Cliston, Clawton and Brixham [Devon] which Isabella de Bolbec, formerly countess of Oxford, held in dower of the gift of Henry de Nonant, formerly her husband. (S) FRsHIII.

1245-46, Reginald died, his brother Ralph his heir to all lands held of the king. (S) FRsHIII, 3/28/1246.

10/19/1247, Joan, who was the wife of Reginald de Vautorte, has made fine with the king by £100, which is to be rendered at the octaves of the Purification of the Blessed Mary, that she might marry herself to whomever she will wish by the king’s licence. (S) FRsHIII.
