1279, Ralph received the king’s precept to be ready to accompany him into Wales. [Infirm, Ralph sent his son James to do his service.]

Isabel died before Ralph.

By 1281, Ralph died.

7/1/1277, James served in place of his father with the Earl Marshall, going into Wales, for the service of 1 knights’ fee for a moiety of the barony of Newmarch.

1279, James again served in place of his father.

Bef. 2/13/1281, James died; his son Ralph his heir, a minor [died 1295, no children, his uncle Robert his heir.] (S) CPRs.

ii. Maud Russel, born ? in England.

Lady Maud married Robert Walrond, receiving the manor of Derham in Gloucestershire at her marriage.

5/1264, Sir John de Bassingbourne, Sir Robert Tipetot, Sir John de Mussegros, Sir Pain de Chawurthe, and Sir Robert Walronde in the castle of Bristol, hearing from the Queen that Lord Edward was a prisoner at Wallingford, left Bristol with 300 horsemen on a Friday as the sun rose. They were unsuccessful in capturing the castle, and Lord Edward, from the walls of the castle, commanded them to return to Bristol. (S) Bristol Past and Present, V1, Nicholls, 1881, P135.
