1171, Adam de Port, holding Warnford, Hampshire, rebuilt the church.

[1172, ‘Adam de Port’ of Herefordshire and Worcester forfeited his estates for treason.]

11/16/1272, Edward I succeeded Henry III as King of England.

~1178, Adam married Mabel.

1180, Adam de Port gave 1000 marks for his lands and for his wife’s inheritance in Normandy.

8/1/1202, King John rescued his mother trapped in Mirebeau castle in Anjou, France. She was beseiged by his cousin Arthur, who John’s brother Richard had designated as his heir. Arthur was also captured [but not brought to England, he was taken to Rouen.]

1202, Adam de Port and his son William brought the prisoners captured at Mirebeau to England.

Over the north nave of Warnford church: ‘ADAM DE PORTU BENEDICAT SOLIS AB ORTU GENS CRUCE SIGNATA PER QUEM SUM SIC RENOVATA’. This gift to the church is confirmed by King Stephen, King Henry II, … by Baron John de St. John (2498700, Adam’s gggs) in 1316.
