Many Bonds were located in StnCo. One of the main generators of income was buying land for the timber rights. The land was cleared, and then farmed, or sold to farmers. The farmers around McHenry raised the usual diversified crops. There are large pecan orchards in the vicinity of the town, this being the most distinctive crop. McHenry is located 24 miles from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The country is rolling and is located in the Long Leaf Pine section of the state. Old settlers state that no finer virgin pine  timber was found anywhere than in the vicinity of this town. The town, like all others of this section, was built around the existence of great pine forests, creating all the kindred industries, saw mills, planning mills, and turpentine stills. At one time, around 1900, when the population was at its greatest, there was a large saw mill and planning mill in the present environs of the town, with a half dozen others in close proximity.

9/12/1918, (S) StnCo. WWI Reg. Card. Dave has a business in Wiggins; is self-employed as a road contractor, is married to Nancy Elmira Bond living in Wiggins; has brown eyes and black hair.

1939, Dave earned $500 as a carpenter.
4/10/1940, Dave and Elmira, with sons Lamar, age 23, and Louis Lee, age 26, live at 5009 5th St, Biloxi, MS. They own their home, worth $400. Dave is a carpenter in building construction. Dave is not working, but is seeking work. The 2 sons are working as truck drivers for a bottling company; working 40 hours a week.

11/25/1944, Elmira died in Biloxi, MS, while living at Clay Point, Point Cadet. The services were at the 2nd Baptist Church. She died of cerebal hemorrhage. Buried in Old Biloxi Cem. in the Bond family plot. (S) Bradford–O’Keef FB31, P131.
10/4/1954, David Franklin Bond, son of S E Bond, and Elizabeth Elliott, SSN 42734874, made a claim for Social Security.
Before 1959, David lived in Biloxi, MS with son Lamar and his family.
5/9/1959, David died in Biloxi, HarrCo, MS, addicted to Paregoric. He was living in the Nursing home of his daughter Peggy. Buried in Old Biloxi Cem. in the Bond family plot next to Elmyra.

4/19/1940, Allen B Patrick, Ancie B and daughter Viola Fay live at 2117 18th avenue in Gulfport, MS, with her sister Viola’s family. Their daughter Viola Fay is 8 months old. Allen is a salesman for an aluminum company, reporting no income from that job in 1939. Ancie is a private nurse, reporting no income from nursing in 1939.

4/19/1940, Matthew Pierocich, Viola, and daughter Elvira, age 10, live at 2117 18th avenue in Gulfport, MS. Viola’s sister Ancie and her family live with them. Matthew attended a year of high school. Viola attended 3 years of high school. Daughter Elvira has completed 3 years of school. They own their home worth $2000. Matthew is a ‘concrete foreman’ in road construction [reporting no earnings at the job in 1939.]

4/7/1940, “Annie Lou Dodd” is the head of the household living at 129 North Lamar St., Oxford, Lafayette Co., MS. She has a border named Mary Utley, age 49. She rents her home for $20 a month. Annie is a public health nurse for the county. [The records indicates “M” for married, but then it is crossed out and a “D” for divorced is written over it.] (S) 1940 Census.
