1631, Nicolas born in Chateau d'Oleron [eastern tip of the island], Rochefort, La Rochelle, Saintonge, France; s/o §Pierre Gendron & §Marie Renaut.

1642, Marthe born in St-Pierre de Chevilly, Reims, Champagne, France; d/o §Toussaint Hubert & §Catherine Champagne.

1652, Nicolas living in Notre-Dame-des-Anges, arrière-fief Grandpré de la Déroute. He arrived that year on a 3-year contract.

11/30/1652, Nicolas witnessed a land concession.

1/6/1656, Nicolas signed his marriage contract.

2/14/1656 in Quebec, Nicolas married Marthe. Both origins given. All parents named. M’s Bourdon and Dauteuil attending.

Nicolas moved his family to the Sainte Genevieve coast.

4/22/1658, Nicolas received a concession on the coast of Notre Dame des Anges of 2 arpents frontage by 30 deep, on the riviere St Charles. Nicolas was required to build a home the 1st year, with a rent of 60 sols.

4/18/1661, Nicolas sold his property, now with a house, barn and stable, to Eustache Lambert for 500 livres tournois.

7/25/1661, Nicolas acquired 3 arpents frontage by 24 deep on Ile de Orleans [parish of St Pierre, later Ste. Famille] from Nicloas Deblois for 80 livres. The rents and cens were the same as his 1st property. His neighbor was Jacques Lehoux. Nicolas had the rights to already planted crops, but there was no house on the property.

10/31/1663, Nicolas appeared before the Soverign Council seeking payment for a pig killed by Claude Charland about 6 weeks earlier. Nicolas was fined 10 livres for threatening Claude as they were leaving the court.

Spring, 1664, Amerindian Robert Hache, attacked and raped Marthe. Robert was captured and jailed, but later escaped.

1666 census of Ste Famille, I.O.; Nicolas 32 a habitant-butcher, Marie Marthe 24, children: Jean Francois 7, Jacques 3, Nicolas 13 months; Thomas Gasse 22 – domestic.

1667 census: Nicolas had 3 cattle, 10 arpents under cultivation.

1/16/1671, a Friday, Nicolas died in Ste Famille, I.O.

11/23/1671 in Ste Famille, I.O., Marthe married Benoit Ponsart from Lyons. [1 son.]

2/23/1673, Louis Houde elected as guardian for Nicolas’ 4 minor children.

3/6/1673, an inventory of Nicolas was completed. Nicolas family’s home had burned; irons, dishes, blankets, … “old chest with key in which is found the breviary printed in French and Latin” and “another small book entitled ‘Les rechutes du peche apres la penitence.’ [Relapses after the penance of sin]” … barrels of lard in the cellar, wheat and peas in the barn, flour in an old house at the bottom of the slope, … total value: 150 livres. Livestock: 2 oxen, 3 cows, 1 heifer, value: 303 livres. 7.5 arpents of land under cultivation. Debts: 61 livres.

3/8/1673, Marthe and Benoit completed a marriage contract.

Benoit died.

1681 census of Ste Famille, I.O., Marthe 40, son Jacques Gendron 19, son Pierre Gendron 14, daughter Marie Gendron 13, son Louis Pinsart 8.

2/26/1688, Marthe buried at Ste Famille; attended by Jacques Gendron, and Jacques and Nicolas Asselin.

i. Jean Francois Gendron, born 12/9/1657 in Quebec, Canada.

ii. Jean Baptiste Gendron, born 11/19/1660 in Quebec, Canada. [Died an infant.]

iii. Jacques Gendron (1872), born 11/14/1662 in Chateau Richer, Canada.

iv. Nicolas Gendron, born 12/20/1664 in Chateau Richer, Canada. [Died bef. 1677.]

v. Pierre Gendron, born 1/16/1667 in Ste Famille, I.O., Canada.
11/8/1694 in St Famille, I.O., Pierre married Marie, d/o Hypolite Tibierge & Renee Herve. [12 children.]
2/27/1747, Pierre, age 80, died.

vi. Marie Marthe Gendron, born 4/19/1669 in Ste Famille, I.O., Canada.
10/18/1685, Marthe married Pierre Sylvestre from La Rochelle [a Calvinist]. [3 children.]
Bef. 1696, Pierre and Marthe returned to La Rochelle, France, where there 3rd child was buried.
