By 1737, the family 1st settled in Newlondon Derry, Chester Co., PA. The family owned a store.

1738, the family settled in Augusta Co., VA [now Rockbridge Co.] on Borden's Great Grant at the headwater of Cedar and Mill and Broad Creeks of the James River.

Michael married Mary.

1760-63, Michael moved to Augusta Co. [then Botetourt, then Fincastle, then Wythe], VA.

1763, Michael began military service at Reed Creek settlement, Wythe Co., VA, with the Bedford militia against the Indians.

1767, Michael a defendant in a lawsuit vs. William Daugherty.

5/3/1774, Michael was Constable at Fincastle Co., VA; where he marketed 1500 pounds of hemp.

8/1774, Michael appointed Ensign to raise a party of men for Capt. Walter Crockett’s militia.

1786, Michael on a list of new grants in Augusta Co.

1787-88, Michael taxed on 350 acres in Augusta Co.

1789, Michael died. (S) Reg. of KY Hist Soc.

• Some of the family history is documented in a letter, dated August 1882, from Dr. James Daugherty to Dr. Robert T Hocker. James Daugherty had visited Indiana from Kentucky with his uncle John Magill in 1834.
