~1355, Sybil born in England, d/o §§John de la Bere. [There is no direct evidence of which John of many is her father, and plenty of evidence suggesting the ones usually identified cannot be her father.]

By 1371, Thomas married Sybil.

10/18/1371, Licence, for £20 paid to the king by John Crophill, ‘chivaler,’ for him to grant the manor of Neubold Verdon, co. Leicester, except knights’ fees, advowsons and 80 acres of wood, a stew and 4£ of rent , held in chief, to Thomas Crophill, his son, and Sybil, his wife, in tail male, with reversion to himself and his heirs [retaining rent in Cotesbach and the manor of Hemington. 6/21/1377, Richard II, age 10, succeeded Edward III as King of England.

6/27/1379, Pardon at the supplication of the king’s esquire, Thomas Crophull, to John Criste of Boney, for the death of Roger Scate of Boney. (S) CPRs.

1/30/1381, Appointment for life of Thomas Crophull, king’s esquire, as surveyor of the king’s hay by Hereford, and of vert and venison there. (S) CPRs.

1381, Thomas and Sibil held Newbold Verdun manor.

1381, Sybil died before Thomas.

11/18/1381, Thomas, of Newbold Verdun, Leicestershire, died before his father.

11/30/1381, Writ for IPM for Thomas de Crophull. Leicester: John de Crophull, knight, formerly held the under-mentioned manor of Neubold Verdon, and with the late king’s licence granted it … to the said Thomas, his son, and Sibyl, the latter’s wife, and the heirs male of their bodies, with reversion to himself and his heirs. Sibyl died during the lifetime of the said Thomas. Neubold Verdon. The manor (extent given), held of the king in chief, as parcel of the barony late of Theobald de Verdon, by knight’s service. The said Thomas died in seisin of the manor (except as above) on Monday after St. Martin last, without heir male by the said Sibyl, so that the reversion pertains to the aforesaid John de Crophull, who is still living. The said John is 60 years of age and more. Thomas and Sibyl had a daughter Agnes, now aged 9 years, who is Thomas’s next heir in blood. (S) CIsPM.
