5/14/1666, Thomas patented 200 acres in Surry Co., VA.
7/1666, Thomas died.
9/4/1666, John Clarke aged 30 odd years sworn and examined saith yet about the letter and of July ye deponent being at ye house of Tho. Gaultney two days before his death, and … ye T. Gaultney to make a will and sett all things in order and ye T. Gualtney ? this deponent, and give to my son William Gaultney ye horse, colt and bed I now lie upon. And for my land I know nobody can take it from him. All ye rest of my goods I give to my wife and loan it to her, it at her dispose and further sayeth not. John /X/ Clarke. Patrick Bartley, aged about 40 years, was sworn and said that being at the house of Thomas Gwaltney the Saturday before his decease, Deponent said to him, “Now that Captain Corker is here it is good for you to set things right and relieve your wife of a great deal of trouble”; and Gwaltney answered, “I leave all to my wife's disposal, for her and for her children, for I know she will be careful of hers as well as mine.” (S) B1, P277.
