~1660, Grace born in Northampton Co., VA, d/o 1058. William Satchell & 1059. Elizabeth ?.
1/23/1665, Grace Satchell in the will of Richard Gilbert. [Her father named administrator of the will.]
1677, John Batson on the list of Tithables under John Bellamy; Col. John Stringer’s list.
~1678, John married Grace in Northampton Co., VA.
1/27/1679, Grace named an heir in her father’s will. “I give unto My daughter Grace Batson one hundred acres of land.”
1686, John “Badson” received a patent in Northampton Co.
5/28/1686, John conveyed in fee simple land from William Kindal, which he obtained from Grace’s sister Ellen in 1680.
11/25/1699 in Northampton Co., “Judgement this day confessed by John Coles, John Batson, Morgan Poulden and Thomas Bushell defts. to Colonel John Custis for the sum of four thousand eigthy five pounds of tobacco & cask due by bond forthwith to be paid with costs of suit”.

Family notes:
• John’s will: In the name of God Amen, I John Badson of the County of Northampton in Virginia being very sick and weak in body but yet in good and perfect sense and memory do will and ordain this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following utterly revolking all other wills, forms and bequeaths by me formerly made and done and this to stand and be my last will and testament and none other. Imprimus - I give and bequeath my soul unto almighty God that gave it and to my Saviour Jesus Christ that redeemer and trusting in his merits that I shall receive everlasting life in the Kingdom of Heaven with him and to the disposal of my worldly goods as followeth, Item - I give and bequeath to my two sons Francis and Wm. Badson my plantation whereon I now live by estamation one hundred acres of land my son Francis to have the houseing and land as far as the low place between my house and the barns, of half the fruit of the orchard and priviledge of the outward part of the said land for timber. My son William to have equal priviledge of the pasture and the other half of the orchard to them and their heirs forever, do further will and ordain that my pasture and orchard be kept in repair by my two sons as aforesaid. Item - All the rest of my whole estate that I am possessed with all I leave to my loving wife Grace Badson during her natural life or widowhood, and to have a competent maintenance out of it and at the day of death or marriage my will is that then the remainder be equally divided amoungst my children and I do further will that if my said wife should marry she to have an equal part with my children. My will is that after my wifes decease my mill and cart be and remain upon my plantation for the good and use of the said plantation. I do will and ordain that my son Francis Badson be my whole and sole exec’r of this my last will and testament. Item - My humble request is to my good friends Mr. Ralph Pigott, Mr. Hillary Stringer and Benjamin Nottingham to be my Overseers of this my last will and testament hopeing that will see it fully and perfectly performed, in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 13th day of September 1704.
